HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A man was arrested this weekend after a gas station employee was slashed in the face a month ago, police said.

Midtown resident Melvis Gimenez, 34, was charged with assault on Sunday, according to officials.

On Tuesday at about 7:40 p.m., a 28-year-old worker at an Exon station on West 51st Street and 11th Avenue was slashed by Gimenez, police claim.

First responders brought the victim to Roosevelt Hospital in stable condition, officials said, while Gimenez fled south on 11th Avenue on a scooter.

The victim's co-worker told Patch that the slasher was a customer upset over an unknown issue and that he asked the man to calm down before the attack.

He said last month that it was odd for something like this to happen at their station and that his co-worker was "doing ok" after the slashing.
