Man Hit, Killed By Sanitation Truck In Hell's Kitchen: NYPD
The man was walking on 10th Avenue just before 5 a.m. when he was hit by a private sanitation truck.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A man walking in Hell's Kitchen Friday morning was hit and killed by a private sanitation truck while crossing the street, an NYPD spokesman said.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was walking in the crosswalk of West 49th Street and 10th Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. when he was struck by a trash hauler making a left turn, police said. Medics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, police said. The man suffered injuries to his head and body, an NYPD spokesman said.
Truck driver Robert Alford, 58, stayed at the scene of the collision and was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care, police said. The NYPD investigation into the collision is ongoing, a department spokesman said.
