Man Indicted In Fatal Midtown Stabbing: DA
Nisean Graves is charged in a stabbing on June 9 that was unprovoked and in the middle of the morning, prosecutors said.

MIDTOWN, NY — The man arrested after a fatal Midtown stabbing earlier this month was indicted Friday on murder charges, prosecutors said.
Nisean Graves, 34, was arrested after he fatally stabbed 36-year-old Antonio Eggleston in the chest with a knife during rush hour on Seventh Avenue in Midtown, officials said.
“As alleged, Nisean Graves initiated the stabbing of a stranger that ended in a life being taken far too soon,” said District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “In addition, this public display of violence at a busy intersection threatened the safety of the many other New Yorkers passing by. Although we cannot undo this murder, our dedicated prosecutors will work hard to ensure there is appropriate justice for this alleged attack.”

At about 8:15 a.m. on June 9, Eggleston was walking with a friend near West 30th Street and Seventh Avenue when Graves suddenly walked up and slugged him without any provocation, prosecutors said.
The two began to fight, spilling over into the middle of the street, officials said, where Graves pulled out a knife and swung it towards the unarmed Eggleston, who was kicking at Graves, and stabbed him in the chest.

Graves was arrested near the scene moments later with the bloody knife in his pocket, while Eggleston was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to officials.
Prosecutors charged Graves with a single count of second degree murder.
