Man Shared Plans To Kill Jewish People At A Manhattan Shul, DA Says

In tweets, the man described plans to visit a Midtown congregation for Shabbat, with the intent to cause harm, officials said.

MIDTOWN, NY — A man has been indicted on terror and hate crime charges in New York City for tweeting out plans to kill Jewish people at Central Synagogue in Manhattan, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said Tuesday.

According to Bragg, Luis Ramirez, 23, published a series of antisemitic tweets beginning Feb. 13.

In one of his tweets on Feb. 14, Ramirez mentioned he would visit Central Synagogue for Shabbat services, Bragg said.

"The Jews killed me in my past life if you try to kill me again today in NYC when I pull up to Shabbat I will kill you first and condemn you to hell," Ramirez tweeted, according to the district attorney.

Ramirez also wrote that he was the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler, writing "In past life, I went by the alias Adolf Hitler," and posted that if Jewish people tried to kill him, he would "kill tenfold as many Jews as [he] did in WW2."

A few hours later, Ramirez was arrested by Port Authority and New Jersey Police Department officials while driving towards the Lincoln Tunnel into Manhattan, Bragg said.

"Nobody should have to fear for their safety when they are in a house of worship, and the language allegedly used by this defendant is extremely disturbing," Bragg said.

"My office will remain vigilant against any and all threats to the Jewish community, and I thank our prosecutors and law enforcement partners for their work on this matter."

On Tuesday, Ramirez was charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with one count each of Making a Terroristic Threat as a Hate Crime, Making a Terroristic Threat and Aggravated Threat of Mass Harm.
