Father Shot On Hell's Kitchen Street After Daytime Dispute: NYPD
A sanitation worker was shot on a Hell's Kitchen street Thursday morning after being called over by his daughter, according to police.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A Sanitation worker was shot in the leg in broad daylight Thursday when tried to intervene in a street corner fight between his daughter and another man, according to police.
It happened around 11:15 a.m. in front of 515 West 52nd St. — an apartment tower between 10th and 11th avenues, home to La Bergamote restaurant on its ground floor.
The man and woman were in the midst of an argument when the woman called her father — a 40-year-old city Sanitation worker — to come over, an NYPD spokesperson said. When the father arrived, the other man shot him in the leg, according to police.

The father was in stable condition at a local hospital, police said. There were no reported arrests.
"A Sanitation Worker suffered a gunshot wound earlier today. At this time, we are relieved to hear that the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening," Sanitation Department spokesperson Belinda Mager said in a statement originally shared with W42ST.

"This is an active investigation and we are standing by to assist our partners at NYPD in any way we can," Mager said, adding that Sanitation Commissioner Edward Grayson had visited the worker in the hospital.
City Councilmember Erik Bottcher condemned the shooting in a Twitter post Thursday afternoon, writing, "This madness has to stop!!"
