MIDTOWN, NY — A man was slashed and pepper sprayed after refusing to fork over money while riding a train in Midtown early Wednesday morning, police said.

A 57-year-old man was riding the 1 train near West 50th Street about 1:30 a.m., when a man in his twenties asked him for money, police said.

The man refused to hand over any cash, which prompted the attacker to pepper spray him and slash him in the right arm, police said.
