NEW YORK CITY — At midnight on Jan. 1, the ball dropped in Times Square, and at 12:01 a.m. in Brooklyn, the very first babies of 2025 were born.

The two newest babies — twin girls — were born to Crown Heights parents Sheneece Crumbie and Jordan Tomlinson at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, a spokesperson from the hospital said.

The first baby girl was born at 12:01 a.m., weighing 6 pounds and 13.9 ounces, and the second baby girl was born at 12:02 a.m., weighing 5 pounds and 15.4 ounces, the hospital said.

The parents, from Rockaway, Queens, originally expected their second child to come on Dec. 24, but were excited to welcome him to the start of the new year instead, the hospital said.

About an hour later at Mount Sinai West in Lincoln Square, parents Kimberley Brown and Tabias Lindvall welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Sidney Cassian Lindvall, at 1:23 a.m.

The healthy little infant — 7 pounds and 9 ounces — was born one day ahead of his due date, after a full day of labor, the hospital said.

“It was quite dramatic,” Brown said about delivering Mount Sinai West’s first baby of 2025. “I manifested it.”

Then, when most party revelers were asleep, parents Marie Aserat and Mark Carrasquillo from Crown Heights welcomed their first baby girl Malia Carrasquillo at 3:54 a.m. at Maimonides Medical Canter.

“Malia is full of surprises. Her original due date was Christmas," Aserat said. "We have been joking that she only gets one present. I think she heard us!"

"It's a wonderful way to begin 2025, and we're honored to be part of this family's celebration," Dr. Janet Stein, Director of Obstetrics at Maimonides Health said.
