Midtown DMV Fire Injures One Firefighter, FDNY Says

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A fire broke out early Thursday morning at a Midtown New York Department of Motor Vehicles office, injuring one firefighter responding to the blaze, an FDNY spokesman said.

The fire started in the first floor ceiling of an 11-story office tower at 145 W. 30th St., located between Sixth and Seventh avenues, an FDNY spokesman said. Firefighters had the blaze under control around 1:20 a.m., the spokesman said.

One firefighter working at the scene suffered minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, and city fire marshals are currently investigating, an FDNY spokesman said.
