Man Dies Jumping Between Subway Cars In Midtown, Cops Say

The man died the same weekend a woman was punched in the face by subway robbers and cops released images of a transit groper, officials say.

MIDTOWN, NY — A man died jumping between train cars in Midtown over the weekend as police sought violent subway robbers and a transit groper, according to the NYPD.

The man leapt to his death on a north-bound 2 train approaching the West 50th Street subway station about 10:40 p.m., police said.

The man was struck by the train and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

On Sunday night, a woman, 40, was punched in the face by a group of six robbers, one armed with a knife, on a southbound 1 train near West 34th Street about 8:30 p.m., police said.

She and a man 38, handed over phones and wallets to the sextet, according to officials.

Neither victim reported any injuries from the robbery, according to police.

Police also released info over the weekend about a subway groper they said grabbed a woman's buttocks near Times Square.

The man groped the woman, 25, on a southbound 2 train nearing West 42nd Street on March 12 just after 9 p.m., officials said Sunday.

Police released a photo of a person they are seeking in connection to the incident.
