Midtown Precincts Take Part in National Night Out Against Crime

NYPD community affairs officers celebrated with community members Tuesday evening while teaching them best safety practices.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — If you ever wanted to party with a police officer, you had your chance this week.

New York City's National Night Out Against Crime happens annually on the first Tuesday of August, and all of the precincts across Midtown celebrated Aug. 2. It marks a day where community affairs NYPD officers teach communities different best safety practices at local festivals for different precincts.

Midtown North's Night Out Against Crime event went from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at P.S. 111 at West 53rd Street and 9th and 10th avenues Tuesday evening. The Midtown North Precinct stretches from west to east from Hell's Kitchen to Lexington Avenue.

Midtown South, which covers from Ninth Avenue to Lexington Avenue in the areas of Penn Station and Times Square, held its event from 5 to 9 p.m. on East 47th Street between First and Second avenues.

State Sen. Brad Hoylman, whose 27th District represents much of Midtown, and Councilman Corey Johnson, who represents District 3 along the west side of Manhattan, were among the dignitaries who showed up to the Midtown North's celebration.
