NYC March Of Dimes 2018: Street Closures, Route, March Time

Nonprofit March of Dimes is expected to raise more than $1 million Sunday as marchers take to the streets of New York City.

NEW YORK, NY — Nonprofit organization March of Dimes will hold its 2018 March for Babies in New York City on Sunday, April 29. The organization's goal is to raise $1.5 million for medical care and research for babies and mothers. March of Dimes has already raised more than $1.1 million, according to its website.

The three-mile march will take place on New York City streets, which means there will be a number of road closures. Thousands of people are expected to participate in the march, according to March of Dimes.

When does it start?

The March for Babies starts Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m. March of Dimes will hold programming near Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side that includes photo opportunities with characters from Nickelodeon's "PAW Patrol" and a stage program with CBS sports reporter Otis Livingston and New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning.

The actual march starts around 10 a.m.

What's the route?

The March for Babies begins at Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side, cuts across Central Park via the 65th Street Transverse and then heads down Lexington Avenue from East 65th Street to East 26th Street. It's a three-mile course.

Which streets are closed?

Traffic on the march's route will be closed. Several other streets will also be shut down in the area of Lincoln Center and by the march's finish line. The closures will be in affect from 7 a.m.-4 p.m., according to the city Department of Transportation.
