NYC Subway Delays: 2/3/N/R/W Lines Slowed By Signal Problems

Signal problems at two Midtown subway stations are causing delays on five subway lines.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Signal problems at two Midtown Manhattan subway stations have caused trains on five different lines to run with delays during the Friday evening rush hour.

The 2, 3, N, W and R lines all experienced delays Friday, the MTA announced. Slowdowns on the 2 and 3 lines stemmed from the notorious "signal problems" at Penn Station. The signal problems first surface shortly before 4 p.m., the MTA said.

Delays on the N, W and R lines were caused by problems at the Lexington Avenue and 59th Street station, which occurred around 1:45 p.m., the MTA said. The signal problems were apparently remedied around 2:30 p.m., but delays were still reported as late as 5:30 p.m.
