Uber Driver Rapes NYC Woman Who Fell Asleep In His Car, Cops Say
The woman is reported to be an East Village resident.

MIDTOWN EAST, NY — A New York City woman was raped by her Uber driver after falling asleep in the backseat of his car, the victim told police.
The woman, 31, called an Uber to pick her up at about 2 a.m. on Thursday morning in Midtown East, near 52nd Street and Second Avenue, police said. She fell asleep during the trip, at which point the driver took her to his home in Flushing, Queens and raped her, police said. When the woman awoke and realized she wasn't home, she confronted the driver before fleeing the area and calling police, authorities said. The woman is an East Village resident, according to Gothamist.

The driver told the woman, "I used protection, please don’t tell the police," NYPD sources told the New York Post.
The NYPD's special victims unit is still investigating. No one had been arrested as of Saturday afternoon, police said.

Uber did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Patch.
