NYPD Cop Punched Repeatedly In Times Square Scuffle, Officials Say
A New York City police officer was punched in the face in Times Square by a 24-year-old Sunday, authorities said.

MIDTOWN, NY - A New York City police officer was punched repeatedly in the face in Times Square by a 24-year-old Sunday, authorities said.
Michael Thomas, of Great Neck, Long Island, was charged with assaulting a police officer, harassment and related charges as a result of striking the officer multiple times near Broadway and 42nd Street around midnight, police said.
The assault began after police responded to a 911 call for a disorderly man in the area and asked Thomas to leave, police said. The struck officer was treated for minor injuries at Bellevue Hospital.

Thomas' arraignment is set for Monday morning.
Another NYPD officer was reportedly assaulted about 1:45 p.m. near the New York Public Library during a pro-Palestinian protest where several demonstrators were arrested, the New York Post reported.
