MIDTOWN, MANHATTAN, NYC — Ootoya Times Square is bringing back their Onigiri Menus as a summer special at their take-out window starting Monday, the World of Wonders LLC announced in a news release this week.

This is a pop-up for the summer season that will be around at least until the Labor Day weekend, according to the news release.

They once opened the Onigiri window in February 2021 for one month only, and it became an instant hit. After plenty of demand, the establishment is finally back for the summer, with more menus and a potential chance to make it permanent.

"It's a great option for those who want to picnic at Bryant Park or for those who work near Times Square and want to grab a quick lunch," according to the news release.

The Onigiri window is open on weekdays lunch Monday through Friday, from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm. It has redesigned the take-out window, with a more welcoming and warm feel, and a menu displayed in the window.

Some of the Onigiri menus are inspired by the popular Ootoya teishoku menu items, including the Tori Kuro Onigiri (fried chicken in black vinegar sauce), Unagi and Sukiyaki. Side dishes include Soy Garlic Chicken Karaage, Beef Potato Croquette. They are also offering sushi rolls and some tea options too.

Their rice is Koshi-Ibuki rice from Niigata, freshly milled at The Rice Factory in Scarsdale, and delivered to the restaurant weekly.
