Police Searching for Man Who Sexually Assaulted Woman in Midtown Phone Booth
The woman said she asked him for directions to Penn Station, and he misled her and sexually abused her.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who pushed a 22-year-old woman into a phone booth and sexually assaulted her on Sunday.
The woman told police she had approached the man at 1:35 a.m. around East 39th Street and Lexington Avenue. She asked him for directions to Penn Station, and he asked her to follow him as he walked downtown on Fifth Avenue, misleading her. At Fifth Avenue and West 15th Street, he pushed her into a double phone booth and sexually abused her, police said. The woman wasn't injured, but she was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation.
The police described the man as having a "light complexion and dark hair." He was last seen wearing a red American Eagle T-shirt, blue jeans and Converse sneakers, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the man walking by 260 Fifth Ave.
