Purse Snatcher Robs Woman In Midtown Subway Station, Police Say

The robbery occurred near the turnstiles of the Herald Square subway station.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred in a Midtown Manhattan subway station, police said.

On the night of Feb. 23, a 53-year-old woman was standing by the turnstiles of the Herald Square subway station on West 34th Street and Sixth Avenue when an unknown man approached her, police said. The man walked over to the woman and snatched the wallet from her hands, police said.

After the theft, the man ran up the station steps, getting away with the woman's credit cards and about $50 in cash, police said. The woman was not physically harmed during the robbery, police said.

Police released photos of the suspect captured on subway station security cameras. The man was last seen wearing an orange and black hooded jacket and blue jeans, police said.
