Rolex Robber Loose In Midtown, Police Say

Police are searching for a robber who tried to take two Rolex watches from a 22-year-old in Midtown.

According to the NYPD, a suspect forcibly removed a bag containing two Rolex watches on Feb. 18 around 5 p.m. on Fifth Avenue, between East 48th Street and East 47th Street.

MIDTOWN, NY — Police are looking for a perpetrator who recently ripped a bag containing two Rolex watches away from a 22-year-old in Midtown, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, a man approached a 22-year-old man and forcibly removed a bag containing two Rolex watches on Feb. 18 around 5 p.m. on Fifth Avenue, between East 48th Street and East 47th Street — an area with a lot of watch stores and repair shops part of New York City's Diamond District. New Rolex watch prices start at $6,200, according to Rolex's website.

Then the man took off running eastbound, and one of the watches was recovered at 49th Street between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, police said.

The victim was not injured during the robbery, police said.
