SEE: Javits Center's $1.5B Expansion Will Add 1.2M Square Feet
LendLease Turner was chosen as the developer for the massive expansion.

NEW YORK CITY — Landlease Turner has been chosen as the design-build team for the Javits Center's massive $1.5 billion expansion that will add more than a million square feet to the sprawling, glass-ceilinged convention center on Midtown Manhattan's west side.
Empire State Development announced the firm's selection this week, the next step forward in one of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's many ambitious infrastructure projects for the New York City area, which include two new airports and a Penn Station overhaul.
As with those aforementioned projects, the Javits Center's expansion comes with a number of eye-popping features that were listed in a release announcing the Landlease Turner pick:

- A 55,000-square-foot ballroom, the largest in "the New York region."
- 90,000 square feet of permanent exhibit space
- A "green roof terrace" that can hold up to 1,500 people
- A 45,000-square-foot meeting room space
