Señor Frogs in Times Square Closes

The fiesta fizzled in Manhattan, according to signs on the door that say the rowdy restaurant has closed.

Times Square wasn't feelin' the fiesta: Someone crashed the party at Señor Frogs in Times Square. The restaurant's location at 260 W. 42nd St. between Seventh and Eighth avenues seemed to be shuttered Thursday. Signs posted to the front door said, "Sorry we are closed," and the restaurant's New York website goes to a 404.

The hot spot for partying college students and tourists opened less than a year ago. The 12th in the franchise, the Times Square spot was the restaurant's second-largest location, the Daily News reported upon its opening. The space is a two-story, 21,000-square-foot venue, and the company hired 245 employees when it opened.

A representative from CrowdTorch, a ticket vending company used by Señor Frogs for events, said via email to Patch that he wasn't sure why the Times Square location was closing, but that they had had trouble with the landlord "since day one." They are moving the NYC Drag Brunch to the Hard Rock Café in Times Square, he said.
