NEW YORK CITY — A 30-year-old man has been indicted on charges after stabbing two men inside Grand Central-42nd Street subway station last month, prosecutors announced on Friday.

Gavin Ferguson faces attempted murder and second-degree assault charges in connection with the June 18 incident, police said. The defendant pleaded not guilty to charges at his arraignment.

According to the NYPD, the two victims — 28 and 32 — were stabbed by the suspect at 7:20 a.m. on the mezzanine level after an argument, Patch previously reported.

Ferguson was arrested at his workplace and officers recovered a knife, prosecutors said.

“Gavin Ferguson viciously stabbed two commuters in an unprovoked attack during their morning commute,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “This attack, which significantly injured both riders, took place onboard a crowded train, which potentially threatened the safety of surrounding subway riders. Acts of violence within our transit system will not be tolerated, and I wish the victims a swift recovery.”
