This Team Plans to Build a Wall Around Trump Towers in Midtown
They're taking donations to build a wall of sandbags to make a statement about Trump's candidacy.

If this wall could talk, it would say, "Donald Trump is a racist."
Four friends — designers David Haggerty, James Cazzoli, Mara Gonzalez, and Luke Bateman — are planning on dropping a wall of sandbags in front of one of the many Trump-branded towers in Manhattan to "use Trump's words against him." They are trying to raise the $60,000 they say is needed to make the project a reality after obtaining the proper city permits and sandbags to do carry it out.
The friends say on their Indiegogo campaign that they want to "start a conversation" with the wall of heavy sandbags.

The group needs $30,000 to go forward with the event, and if they don't make that goal, they will give all the money to the "I Have a Dream" Foundation, Luke Bateman told Patch. The "I Have a Dream" Foundation is an education nonprofit that helps children in underserved communities go to college. So far they have reached $3,500 and have 17 people who have paid $35 each, Bateman said.
"The ultimate goal is to show people that are marginalized and demonized by Trump's words that there are people all over the world who support them. We want to generate solidarity and create this idea that the people have a voice," Bateman said.

It costs a $10 donation to add a 25-pound sandbag to the wall, $35 to add a sandbag to the wall with your own personalized message to Trump in a pillowcase covering the pillow, and $50 for all of the above plus a chance to record a YouTube video message to Trump that will be embedded on the sandbag campaign's website. If the group raises its funding goal, the resulting sandbag wall should be 3 feet wide and 4 feet tall and 200 feet long.
"We are deciding on the next role model for the youth our country, on whether or not diversity is seen as something to celebrate or fear. We need to make the right decision," the Indiegogo campaign says.
"As you can imagine, dropping 250,000 pounds of sand anywhere in NYC can congest traffic, especially in Central Park," the campaign says. That's why they have a list of possible Trump buildings outside of which to build the wall if one doesn't work out. Their first choice is the Central Park Trump tower at West 59th Street and Avenue of the Americas, second choice is Central Park West and West 59th Street in front of Trump International. The third choice is 72nd Street Traverse and Terrace Drive.
