Under Armour Flagship Store Opening in FAO Schwarz Building
The sportswear brand is trying its hand at the iconic location on Fifth Avenue.
Trade your teddy bears in for training gear. Under Armour is coming to the classic former FAO Schwarz building on Fifth Avenue, the sportswear company announced Tuesday. The flagship store, which will be Under Armour's biggest in New York City, is set to open between the end of 2018 to the first half of 2019. Right now, its biggest NYC location is in SoHo.
Fortune magazine pointed out Nike's Niketown store is just one block away, noting Under Armour means competition.
FAO Schwarz closed in July of last year after a historic 30 years at 767 Fifth Avenue. It should be a little strange seeing sneakers instead of stuffed animals in the window displays, but New Yorkers always adapt.
