Woman Fatally Struck By Train In Midtown Station, Police Say

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A woman died early Monday morning after being hit by a train in a Midtown Manhattan train station, an NYPD spokesman said.

The 74-year-old was struck by a northbound N train inside the Seventh Avenue and West 49th Street station around 3:35 a.m., police said. Medics discovered the woman's body inside the train tunnel and declared her dead at the scene, police said.

An NYPD investigation into the woman's death is ongoing, a department spokesman said.

Trains on the N and Q lines bypassed the 49th Street station as emergency responders worked at the scene, transit officials said.
