MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A yellow cab jumped a curb Wednesday morning in Midtown Manhattan and slammed into a scaffolding, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The driver suffered a "medical episode" before the crash which caused him to lose control of his cab, police said. Police could not provide more detail on the driver's medical condition, but said he was taken to an area hospital.

The crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Fifth Avenue near West 4rd Street, police said. Videos from the scene of the crash posted on the Citizen App show that the SUV-style cab crashed head-first into the Urban Outfitters store on Fifth Avenue. The cab appears to have suffered damage to its front and drivers side.
