Yelp Review Of NYC Doctor Gets Patient Sued, Report Says

Michelle Levine was sued for defamation after posting her review, she told the New York Post.

KIPS BAY, NY – A negative Yelp review for a Kips Bay gynecologist has cost a patient $20,000 in legal fees to defend herself against defamation claims, the New York Post reported.

Michelle Levine told the newspaper she had a checkup with Dr. Joon Song of New York Robotic Gynecology & Women’s Health, on East 28th St., in 2017.

When she got a bill for what she called unnecessary procedures, she wrote a negative review on sites including Yelp and ZocDoc.

“Very poor and crooked business practice,” Levine wrote, according to the Post. “I suspect that this doctor gives unnecessary procedure [sic] to a lot of people and then charges the insurance sky high prices and no one knows the difference.

“Everything about my one and only visit here has caused me emotional distress and panic, and now they want me to cough up an extra $500 for services I didn’t even need?”

The Post reported that, two weeks later, she was hit by a $1 million lawsuit accusing her of posting falsities and online harassment.
