Arson Squad Probing 1 of 2 Fires To Break Out In Brookhaven Town On Tuesday: Police

The first fire started in a backyard in Sound Beach, Suffolk police say.

SOUND BEACH, NY — Arson Squad detectives are investigating one of two fires that broke out in Brookhaven Town on Tuesday, Suffolk police said.

It broke out at around 11:40 p.m. in the backyard of a home on Echo Avenue in Sound Beach, according to police.

No injuries were reported, police said.

In the second incident, a 911 caller reported a a boiler fire on Cedar Road East in Mastic Beach at around 1:30 p.m., police said, adding that the fire chief later deemed the home safe and secure.
