High School Student Organizes Free Prom Dress Drive, Raffle

The senior from Rocky Point is teaming up with a local charity to supply donated prom dresses, beauty services, to any local girls in need.

ROCKY POINT, NY — Thanks to a Rocky Point High School senior and a local nonprofit, no girl from nearby high schools has to miss this year's prom due to not being able to afford a prom dress.

Calista Nohai-Seamon is teaming up with Long Island Lending a Helping Hand (LILAHH) to collect used prom dresses for any student who needs one. The prom dress drive is running now until April 15.

On April 16 and 17, a free prom dress shopping event will take place at LILAHH's outreach center, 341 Route 25A in Rocky Point.

In addition to any student in need being able to shop for free at the event for the perfect dress, two students each from Rocky Point, Miller Place, Shoreham-Wading River, Longwood and William Floyd high schools will win free hair, nails and makeup for the big night. The services will be donated by True Peace Nail Lounge in Rocky Point. Any girls attending the shopping days will be automatically entered into the raffle for the beauty services.

LILAHH is accepting dress donations Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
