LI Cops Warn Of Open Alcohol Container Enforcement At Miller Place-Rocky Point Parade

Uniformed and plainclothes officers will be present to monitor crowd activity, Suffolk police say.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Suffolk police are warning Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick's Day Parade revelers that uniformed and plainclothes officers will be present to monitor crowd activity and will be enforcing Brookhaven Town's ordinance banning the possession of open alcoholic beverages on Sunday.

Violation of the ordinance could result in a fine, police said.

Spectators on Saturday were warned to remain off the main travel portion of the roadway during the parade.

Route 25A will be closed between Miller Place Road in Miller Place and 150 feet east of Broadway in Rocky Point from 11:45 a.m. to around 4 p.m.

Parking will be prohibited along the parade route.

The Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick's Day Parade is considered the longest on Long Island, and draws thousands of people.
