Long Island Motorcyclist Seriously Hurt Crashing Into SUV: Police

The rider, 24, was then taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with critical injuries, Suffolk police say.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A motor vehicle crash seriously injured a motorcyclist in Miller Place on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

The 24-year-old from Coram was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Route 25A, when two vehicles ahead of him slowed for a traffic light that turned yellow at Harrison Avenue, according to police.

He then passed between the two vehicles and continued through the intersection, where he crashed the motorcycle into the passenger side of an eastbound 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was turning left onto Harrison Avenue at around 9:15 p.m., police said.

He was then taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with critical injuries, and the driver of the Jeep, a 78-year-old from Sound Beach, was not hurt, according to police.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
