1. Police are looking for a driver who hit a German Shepherd, who later died, and didn't stop. Suffolk police Crime Stoppers are offering a reward for information about the incident in Mastic Beach on Spar Drive around 9 p.m. on Jan. 15. The car was described as dirty, with dark tinted windows and a loud muffler, and the driver made a left on Grasmere Drive. (Patch)
2. The State Office of Cannabis Management will host a “Cannabis Conversations” virtual event for the Long Island region on Feb. 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. The virtual “conversations” will discuss how the state law legalizing adult-use recreational marijuana is a foundation for the new cannabis industry in New York. 3. Police say eight people are under arrest and accused of trafficking drugs into the Riverhead Jail. Five visitors brought heroin and marijuana into the facility while visiting three inmates. (News 12)
