1. On Friday a man clinging to a channel marker in the Nissequogue River in front of the Kings Park Bluff Town Boat Ramp was rescued. Rescuers fought currents and the victim was suffering from fatigue and hypothermia and was transported to the hospital. (smithtownmatters.com)
2. Greater Long Island has the news that two new Ruth's Chris Steak Houses will be opening later this year in Smith Haven Mall and Melville. The Lake Grove location will be at the Smith Haven Mall taking over the former Bonefish Grill, between Barnes & Noble and P.F. Chang’s. (Greater Long Island)
3. Riverhead Town will ask Insurance Auto Auctions to remove electric cars from the runway and taxiway at Enterprise Park at Calverton, where hurricane- flooded cars are being stored. There is concern after a Sept. 29 fire at the site. (Riverhead News Review)
4. Police are searching for two suspected burglars who broke into a Riverhead smoke shop and stole more than $2,500 in goods. It happened at 1:26 a.m. on Thursday at the Bapa Vapor and Smoke Shop, 763 Old Country Road in Riverhead. (Daily Voice)
5. Stony Brook University Cancer Center hosts a weekly "Walk with a Doc" event at Heritage Park in Mt. Sinai. Participants can get exercise and talk to a physician every third Sunday at 11 a.m. The next walk is on November 21. (tbrnewsmedia.com)
