Security Update for Mt. Sinai Schools

A security upgrade is in process at all three Mt. Sinai school buildings.

The upgrade, which was spoken about during last week’s board of education meeting uses an intercom system and a scan of a visitor’s driver’s license. Someone visiting the building will buzz the intercom placed on the locked front door. A monitor on the inside would see the visior and then buzz them in.

“They are buzzed into the vestibule, not in the building,: said superintendent Enrico Crocetti.

The visitor would show their photo driver’s license and drop it inot a scanner.

“If there is a hold for any reason, it will be approved or not approved,” said Crocetti. A badge is then printed that says where the visitor is going.

Crocetti said the system will be up in a few weeks.

“We are trying to get it done as quickly as possible.”
