The Week Ahead: Earth Day, Rocky Point Budget Adoption & More

A few big things happening in the area this week.

  1. The Rocky Point School Board will adopt its budget for the 2013-14 school year Monday night in the high school auditorium with public session beginning at 7 p.m.  
  2. The Miller Place PTO hosts a night out Thursday at 7 p.m. at Majestic Gardens in Rocky Point with food and tons of raffles.   
  3. Celebrate Earth Day at Heritage Park as the SCWA unveils its new Hydrogeology Kiosk at 10:30 a.m. Supervisor Ed Romaine, Legis. Sarah Anker and Councilwoman Jane Bonner are expected to attend the unveiling.   
  4. The North Shore Youth Council in Rocky Point will host the “The Belonging Tree Dedication” in conjunction with the family of the late Gabriel E. Phillippe, a teenager from the Rocky Point area, who died of a drug overdose in 2010. The ceremony, held at the NSYC office on the grounds of the Joseph A. Edgar school in Rocky Point, aims to bring awareness to the issue of substance abuse affecting people from our communities.
  5. Head to the North Shore Public Library in Shoreham Wednesday at 2 p.m. for a showing of Hitchcock, the 2012 film about Alfred Hitchcock’s life starring Anthony Hopkins.
