4th Listeria Case On LI; 2nd Confirmed In Nassau: Health Dept.

The CDC says listeriosis is an infection typically caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium listeria monocytogenes.

MINEOLA, NY — A fourth case of listeria has been reported on Long Island, the Nassau County Department of Health on Wednesday.

It's the second case of listeria confirmed in Nassau linked to the recent outbreak connected to Boar'd Head products, a spokesperson for the Department of Health said.

The cause is tainted deli meat, which has caused illness to dozens of people in 13 states, Newsday said.

Residents, who ate recalled Boar's Head meats, are advised to seek immediate medical attention if they experience any symptoms of listeria infection, the Department of Health said.
