MINEOLA, NY — Mineola Middle School students collected 6,220 pounds of electronic waste during an annual e-waste drive that was held on Oct. 28.

Community members were invited to drop off unused or broken items — including printers, computers, tablets, phones, televisions, and chargers. The goal of the after-school drive was to keep used electronics out of landfills.

When improperly disposed of, these electronics have the potential to cause severe environmental and human health impacts.
