Fire Breaks Out At Mineola Building Twice In 24 Hours: Officials
The Mineola Fire Department responded to a building fire twice in 24 hours.
MINEOLA, NY — Firefighters battled a blaze Saturday evening in Mineola, at the same site where a fire erupted one day earlier.
Mineola Fire Department Chief Andrew Martone said the first fire broke out at a mixed-use building on East 2nd Street around 6 p.m. Friday. Authorities determined it was an electrical fire that started in the basement and spread to the second floor. Multiple businesses were damaged and residents were displaced in that first fire.
The second fire erupted in the same building about 24 hours later, according to Martone. Fortunately, no residents were inside, as the building was deemed uninhabitable after Friday's incident.
