2. Seaford man indicted for stabbing parents to death inside family deli in Bethpage (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Mineola-based Nassau County prosecutors have indicted a 30-year-old Seaford man on murder charges in connection with the December killings of his parents at their longtime Bethpage deli. The case, described by the district attorney as deeply tragic, details a broad-daylight stabbing inside a neighborhood staple and outlines the potential life-without-parole sentence the defendant now faces.
3. 'Torso killer' Richard Cottingham admits to another killing 60 years ago (newsday.com) — Mineola readers are directly connected to this case through victim Mary Beth Heinz, a 21-year-old from Mineola among five Nassau women linked to serial killer Richard Cottingham. Authorities say Cottingham has now confessed to an additional 1965 killing in New Jersey, while continuing to serve multiple life sentences for murders in New York and New Jersey.
4. Obituary of Audrey M. Brand (wxhc.com) — Mineola readers may pause to remember Audrey Marie Brand, who was born in Mineola and later made her home in the Finger Lakes and Ithaca.
