Mineola Bank Robbed, Search Is On For Suspect: Police

Authorities are searching for a man they say robbed a bank in Mineola over the weekend.

MINEOLA, NY — Nassau County police are searching for a man they say robbed a Citibank in Mineola over the weekend.

Shortly before 12 p.m. on Saturday, a man entered the bank at 250 Old Country Rd., handed the teller a note announcing the robbery, and demanded money, police said. The teller reportedly complied and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction with an undetermined amount of cash.

Investigators describe the suspect as a six-foot-tall white male, between the ages of 40 and 50, with salt and pepper hair. They added that he has an average build and was wearing a black jacket over a black sweatshirt.

There were six employees and one customer inside the bank at the time of the robbery, according to police. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call police at 911 or Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
