Suspected Porch Pirates Arrested In Mineola: Police

Authorities have arrested two people they say stole packages from people's homes in Mineola.

MINEOLA, NY — Two people accused of stealing packages from people's homes in Mineola have been arrested, authorities announced Wednesday.

The thefts were reported around 1 p.m. on Tuesday. According to Nassau County police, officers were tipped off by a resident who offered a description of the suspects' vehicle. Officers were able to track down the SUV and arrest the pair.

Police have identified the suspects as Tyree Stewart, 30, and Jacqueline White, 26. Stewart and White, who both reside in Queens, are believed to have stolen packages from homes on Latham Road, Laurel Drive, and White Road.

Officers were able to return several packages to the victims.

Stewart and White have been charged with three counts of petit larceny and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, according to police. They are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 18.
