Sprain Brook Parkway Police Chase, Crash Snarled Traffic For Hours
A serious crash during a police chase in Yonkers involving a "neighboring jurisdiction" was to blame, according to officials.

YONKERS, NY — The Yonkers Police Department said an ongoing investigation by "neighboring law enforcement agencies," closed the southern parts of the Sprain Brook Parkway and tied up traffic on surrounding roads.
The road closures involved all lanes of traffic, in both directions:
The northbound Sprain Brook Parkway wass closed at the Bronx River Parkway split, and traffic was diverted to the northern part of the Bronx River Parkway. The southbound Sprain Brook Parkway wass closed at Central Park Avenue, and traffic was diverted to southbound Central Park Avenue.

Police warned motorists that the area of the highway, and the roadways that lead to the area, should be avoided until well into the evening rush hour.
According to a report from News 12 Westchester, the crash, involving a person on foot being struck, was the result of a police chase involving the NYPD.
