Building Collapse Closes Roads As Rescuers Worked To Save The Trapped
First responders worked to remove occupants of the building and determine the integrity of the rest of the structure, Yonkers PD said.

YONKERS, NY — The Yonkers Police Department and the Yonkers Fire Department say they have rescued residents at a partial building collapse.
Just before 11 a.m. on Friday, Yonkers Police and Fire Departments were called to 9 North Broadway on a report of a partial building collapse. It was discovered that a floor and wall of the first level of the building had collapsed into the basement below.
Police secured the area while Yonkers firefighters evacuated two people from the third floor apartment with a tower ladder. These two residents were transported to an area hospital for evaluation but did not suffer serious injuries.

In addition to police and firefighters, the Yonkers Office of Emergency Management, the City of Yonkers Department of Housing and Buildings, the Red Cross, and Con Edison all arrived on the scene and are continuing to assess the situation, according to officials. Utilities have been shut off and the building is being examined to determine the integrity of the structure.
North Broadway from Main Street to Manor House Square, as well as Main Street from Palisade Avenue to Warburton Avenue will remain closed until further notice, police said.
