YONKERS, NY — A woman is dead after being struck by a Grand Central-bound Metro-North train, near the Yonkers station.

The yet-to-be-identified woman was struck at approximately 8:59 a.m. on Friday, according to MTA officials, who told Patch that the investigation into the incident is still "active and ongoing."

The morning commute was briefly disrupted by the tragedy. According to Metro-North's Friday morning social media posts on X (formerly Twitter), Hudson Line customers experienced 10-15 minutes of delays after the incident, and the 9:20 a.m. train from Grand Central to Croton-Harmon bypassed Riverdale, Ludlow, Glenwood, and Greystone, but did stop at the Yonkers station.
