MOUNT VERNON, NY — The ballots are in and voters have decided on the 2025 budget and school board.
Here are the unofficial results.
The proposed Mount Vernon schools spending plan of $272,266,615 passed, with 1,400 voting yes and 1,138 voting no.

The new budget is 0.35 percent higher than the current budget.
The tax levy is expected to be increased by 3.3 percent.

Three, three-year school board seats were up for election. Sakai Brown (1,698 votes), Erica Peterson (1,633 votes), and Randolf Scott (1,541 votes) were elected to those seats. They will be sworn in at a Reorganizational Meeting of the Board of Education on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, and will serve a full term, expiring June 30, 2028.
