Police Release ID Of Elderly Pedestrian Killed On Cross County Parkway
After crossing the right and center westbound lanes, he had been walking in the left lane of traffic when he was struck by an SUV.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — The Westchester County Police Department has released additional details about the pedestrian who was struck by a car on the Cross County Parkway on Tuesday, and later died of this injuries that evening at Jacobi Medical Center.
He was identifed as 74-year-old Samuel Wallace, of Mount Vernon.
Wallace was struck by a car around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while he was walking in the left lane of the westbound Cross County Parkway, near the Eastchester-Mount Vernon border.

Wallace crossed the right and center westbound lanes, and had been walking in the left lane when he was struck by a Buick SUV, according to investigators.
WCPD says that no charges were filed against the driver.

A Citywide Mobile Response Team ambulance that was traveling on the parkway stopped at the scene, and rendered immediate medical aid to Wallace, before taking him to Jacobi. The Eastchester Fire Department also assisted during the incident.
The westbound lanes were closed to all traffic for several hours due to the investigation.
