Traffic Alert: Exit 6 Hutch Ramps Will Close This Week

The closures will take place overnight, Tuesday through Friday, as part of the ongoing bridge replacement and rehabilitation project.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Just when you thought it was safe to wade back onto the Hutchinson River Parkway, new detours and ramp closures have been announced.

The New York State Thruway Authority announced that the Hutchinson River Parkway southbound ramps to and from Exit 6 (East Lincoln Ave.) in Mount Vernon and the Village of Pelham are scheduled to close for paving, as part of the massive bridge replacement and rehab project.

The closures will be on weeknights from Tuesday, July 19 through Friday, July 22, between 9 p.m. - 5 a.m., weather permitting, according to the agency.

Drivers should follow posted detours using Exit 7 or Exit 5B in Mount Vernon and Pelham as alternatives.

The NYSDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in a drivers license suspension.
