Travel Alert: Cross County Parkway Lanes Closed For Additional 2 Weeks
Braking: One of Westchester County's most congested parkways is going to be an even tighter squeeze for a bit longer.

MOUNT VERNON, NY —Commuting on the Cross County Parkway will involve extra stress for longer than originally anticipated.
The New York State Department of Transportation says the left lane in both directions of the Cross County Parkway is scheduled to close at Exit 9 (Hutchinson River Parkway) in Mount Vernon, for several days this week.
The lanes will be closed from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., between Monday, August 29 until Thursday, September 15, for roadway work.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change, the DOT said.
The NYSDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of your driver's license.
