Police say it remains unclear why the woman was in the roadway and whether she was walking south at the time she was struck or whether she was crossing from east to west. No vehicle belonging to the woman was located in the area so police say it does not appear that she had been driving before walking on the parkway.
The southbound lanes of the Hutchinson were closed for several hours after the incident, into the early morning.
