100+ NYC High Schools Make U.S. News 2024 ‘Best’ Ranking

NEW YORK CITY — Several public high schools in New York City are among the best in the country, according to a new ranking Tuesday from U.S. News & World Report.
Among the 140 ranked New York City schools, five were named to the U.S. Top 50 (Queens High School for the Sciences at York College, No. 25; Stuyvesant High School, No. 26; High School Math Science and Engineering at CCNY, No. 36; Bronx High School of Science, No. 37; Staten Island Technical High School, No. 50).

State-by-state performance is based solely on which states have the largest proportion of schools in the top 25 percent. Massachusetts once again leads in the ranking, followed by Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland and Florida, respectively.

The top high schools have students who score exceptionally high on math, reading and science assessments, as well strong performance among under-served students. High school graduation rates and college readiness among graduates are also measured.
