NEW YORK CITY — A teen cyclist died after he was hit by a truck in Lower Manhattan Friday afternoon, police said.

The cyclist, 18, was struck by the box truck 12:40 p.m. crash at First Avenue and East 17th Street, near Stuy Town, authorities said.

The cyclist and the box truck driver, 31, were heading up First Avenue when both tried to turn onto East 17th Street and collided, police said.

The cyclist died at Bellevue Hospital shortly after the crash, police said.

The driver stayed at the scene and no crime was suspected as of Friday afternoon, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.
